FED Needs Redistricting - Ole Boy Network Not Adequate in Predicting Economic and Monetary Flow

by Lance Winslow

(June 15, 2008)

Excuse me for saying so, but the Federal Reserve needs to modify its model slightly. For instance, it now takes in information from the 12 FED Banks, where its leaders hail from. Unfortunately, many of these cities are old industrial cities and they are no longer the big prime moving cities.

If you look at Los Angeles, the largest city in America, well, it has no FED Bank. And what about fast movers like Phoenix, no FED Bank there either. Combining another big city with Phoenix makes no sense; it's not like many other cities. It's not like Las Vegas with its huge gambling industry or like LA with the entertainment business. No, Phoenix which has a very powerful GDP, especially if you include Tucson down the road needs a FED Bank and more influence.

It just seems nuts to have a FED Bank in St. Louis and Kansas City, when there is already one in Chicago. Meanwhile the on the East Coast there are higher concentrations of FED Banks and the West Coast hardly any. A Fed Bank in San Francisco, a city which is quite irrelevant to Los Angeles and becoming less relevant to Sacramento seems a travesty and what about Riverside County, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties in California. San Francisco is vastly different like another planet even.

Now then, who the hell am I to make all these statements? Well, I am someone who studies demographics, has been to every city in the nation and run a multi-state franchise operation. FED Bank cities have better money flows and an unfair advantage, not to mention act different than other cities economically at the micro-small business and macro-industry level.

Please think on this and I promise not to mention it again. But if I was running things; it's time for a shake-up, a little streamlining and a reality check on America's progress. The United States is all grown up now and we need to respect that truth.
